Data controller

The data controller for Tulnest (https://tulnest.space) is Bruce Higiro, an independent developer based in Kigali, Rwanda. Reach the controller at hello@tulnest.space for any privacy-related question, request or complaint covered by this policy.

What data we collect

Tulnest does not require an account, and the calculators themselves run in your browser. Text, numbers and files you enter into a tool are processed locally on your device and are not transmitted to our servers. The only exception is when a tool explicitly relies on a server-side step (e.g. fetching live currency rates) — and even then, we transmit only the data needed for that lookup, never your inputs.

For the site itself, we collect aggregated, anonymous usage data (page views, country, device type, referrer) via Google Analytics with IP-anonymisation enabled. We use this to understand which tools people find useful and which pages are broken.

Legal basis (GDPR / UK GDPR)

For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we process personal data on these legal bases:

  • Consent (Art. 6(1)(a))for personalised advertising cookies and any non-essential analytics cookies. We collect this consent via the Google-certified consent message shown on your first visit. You can change or withdraw consent at any time using the "Manage privacy choices" control in the site footer.
  • Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) for aggregated, anonymised analytics that help us keep the site working and improve the tools. The interest balanced is the ability to maintain a free, ad-supported utility; the impact on users is minimal because the data is anonymised and not used for any individual decision.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies for two purposes:

  • Analytics — Google Analytics drops a cookie to distinguish unique visitors and sessions in the aggregate. IP addresses are anonymised on collection.
  • Advertising — Google AdSense and its partners may drop cookies to serve and measure ads. With your consent, those cookies can also be used to personalise the ads you see.

You can disable cookies in your browser at any time, manage your consent via the privacy-choices control in the footer, or use incognito / private browsing to avoid them entirely.

Advertising

We use Google AdSense to show ads on this site. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve and measure ads. Google may combine signals from your visit to this site with signals from your visits to other sites that use Google ad services.

You can opt out of personalised advertising via Google Ads Settings or, for participating vendors collectively, at aboutads.info/choices and youronlinechoices.com (EEA / UK).

Data retention

Because we don't store personal data ourselves, the retention policy is set by the third parties involved:

  • Google Analyticsretains user-level and event-level data for 14 months by default, after which it is automatically deleted from Google's servers.
  • Google AdSenseretention is governed by Google's own retention rules (typically up to 13 months for personalised-ads cookies in the EEA / UK).
  • Server logs from our hosting provider (Vercel) are retained for up to 30 days and contain IP addresses, user agents and request paths — used solely for security, abuse prevention and debugging, then deleted automatically.
  • Email correspondence sent to hello@tulnest.space is retained as long as the conversation is useful (typically up to two years) and then deleted.

International transfers

Google Analytics and Google AdSense process data on servers operated by Google LLC in the United States and other countries where Google has infrastructure. Vercel hosts the site on infrastructure that may be located in the United States or the European Union depending on the edge region serving your request. Both providers rely on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission as the legal mechanism for these transfers.

Your rights (EEA / UK)

If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland you have the right to:

  • request access to the personal data we hold about you;
  • request correction of inaccurate personal data;
  • request erasure of your personal data;
  • request restriction of processing or to object to processing based on legitimate interests;
  • request data portability for data you provided to us;
  • withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent (this does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal); and
  • lodge a complaint with your national data-protection authority.

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@tulnest.space. We aim to respond within 30 days. Note that because we don't link analytics or ad data to individual identities, we may need additional information from you to locate the data your request covers, or may need to direct the request to Google as the processor that actually holds it.

Children

Tulnest is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in parts of the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, email the address above and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the law, our processors, or the tools change. The "Last updated" date at the top of the page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be highlighted in this section.
