RWF

Enter a gross salary to see the breakdown.

Rates last verified: 24 April 2026. PAYE brackets follow RRA, and pension/maternity/CBHI percentages follow RSSB. Rates change periodically — always verify against the official rate cards before using this output for payroll or hiring.

Enter your monthly gross salary to see net take-home after every statutory deduction that applies to formal employment in Rwanda: PAYE income tax, RSSB pension (employee + employer), RSSB maternity, and — optionally — Community-Based Health Insurance (CBHI) for employees not enrolled in a private scheme.

The tool also shows the total monthly cost to the employer (gross + employer contributions), which is useful when negotiating offers or budgeting new hires. Tax details come from the PAYE calculator.

How to use

  1. Enter your gross monthly salary in RWF.
  2. Tick Include CBHI if your contract deducts the 0.5% Community-Based Health Insurance contribution. Leave it off if you're covered under RAMA or a private scheme.
  3. Read your net take-home in the top card, then check the Employee deductions table for PAYE, RSSB pension, maternity and optional CBHI, and the Employer contributions table for the full monthly cost of your employment.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between gross and net salary in Rwanda?
Gross is the total agreed monthly salary before deductions. Net is what actually lands in your account after PAYE, RSSB pension, RSSB maternity and — for some employees — CBHI are withheld.
Do employers pay RSSB too?
Yes. On top of what's deducted from the employee, the employer contributes to RSSB pension and maternity. This tool shows the total monthly cost to the employer — useful when negotiating offers or budgeting hires.
When should I tick the CBHI box?
Tick it if your payslip deducts CBHI (Community-Based Health Insurance / Mutuelle de santé). Employees covered under RAMA or private health insurance usually don't have CBHI deducted.
